The Department of Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics was formed in 2010 within Notre Dame’s College of Science. The founding members, who transferred from the Department of Mathematics, perform research in mathematical biology, scientific computing, numerical analysis, and statistical bioinformatics. Statistics faculty members hired in 2011 have research interests in high-dimensional data analysis and Bayesian statistics with applications to biology, finance and clinical trials. Since the University of Notre Dame will soon begin a period of growth in the faculty ranks, additional faculty positions are expected in the near future.
Position Title:
Assistant Professor of Statistics
Duties & Responsibilities:
The newly formed Department of Applied and Computational Mathematics and Statistics (ACMS) began building a group in statistics last year with the hire of two tenure-track assistant professors and two assistant professors of the practice. This year we are searching for a statistics faculty member with a strong preference for a candidate at the rank of tenured associate professor or full professor. Applications in any area of statistics are invited. Preference will be given to applicants whose statistical research is complemented with collaborations in genetics, systems biology, ecology, the social sciences or finance. The teaching load in ACMS is 3 courses per year, and the position begins in August 2012. Applications will be accepted until December 15, 2011, however the evaluation of candidates may begin immediately.
Position Qualifications:
The successful applicant must have a doctorate in statistics, biostatistics or a closely related field, and a record of success in both research and teaching.
