Position Title:
Biostatistician
Duties & Responsibilities:
This is a temporary role, ending on June 30, 2012. The Healthcare Analytics Unit (HAU) is a service unit of two Centers of Emphasis at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia: PolicyLab and the Center for Pediatric Clinical Effectiveness. HAU provides expertise of center faculty members with advanced training in clinical epidemiology and public health and serves as a resource for investigators who want to use administrative or other existing data to answer research questions, and offers programmer/analysts services to pull, clean, manage, model and analyze data. HAU is seeking a Biostatistician for a temporary role (estimated end date: June 30, 2012) to participate in a study surrounding the cost-effective analysis based on Pediatric Health Information System data. The study aims to established analysis method to identify the variation among hospitals on managing disease conditions. The Biostatistician will, in collaboration with the Principal Investigator and other study staff, utilize the large administrative PHIS database to prepare analysis data and data listing. (S)He will provide descriptive summary and statistical analysis result according to the statistical analysis plan.
Position Qualifications:
Masters degree in Statistics, Biostatistics or related field. Minimum of 2 years experience with SAS (required) and other statistical software programming (STATA preferred), and statistical graphics. Advanced knowledge of MS Office. Experience with medical data is desirable. Ability to work independently and take initiative when necessary. Ability to work efficiently on multiple projects. Ability to work under stress and meet deadlines. Strong ethical conduct and ability to work with confidential and highly sensitive information. Good interpersonal skills; ability to work with faculty and medical researchers. Good oral and written communication skills. All CHOP employees who work in a patient building or who provide patient care are required to receive an annual influenza vaccine unless they are granted a medical or religious exemption.
