Position Title: Assistant Professor (Tenure-Track)

Duties & Responsibilities: The faculty member is expected to supervise graduate students on their master’s theses in the Math Department’s MS Statistics program, which has been approved as a Professional Science Master’s degree. The faculty member would also be expected to supervise student teams working on industrial research projects and consulting projects in the Math Department’s Center for Applied Math, Computation, and Statistics (CAMCOS) program. In addition the faculty member is expected to teach a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Mathematics, to maintain a program of scholarly activity, to work on curriculum development, and be involved in departmental governance. Candidate must address the needs of a student population of great diversity – in age, cultural background, ethnicity, primary language and academic preparation – through course materials, teaching strategies and advisement.

Position Qualifications: The Mathematics Department at San José State University invites applications for one full time tenure track faculty position in Statistics. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Statistics or closely related field by the time of appointment. Also desirable would be the knowledge of and experience with the appropriate use of technology in teaching and research.
