Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Statistics
Duties & Responsibilities:
GRINNELL COLLEGE. Two-year position in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, starting Fall 2012. Assistant Professor (Ph.D.) in Statistics preferred; Instructor (ABD) or Associate Professor possible. Grinnell College is a highly selective undergraduate liberal arts college. The Mathematics and Statistics Department is in a newly renovated, well-equipped environment and is dedicated to providing its students with strong mathematical and statistical training in keeping with the liberal arts tradition. The College's curriculum is founded on a strong advising system and close student-faculty interaction, with few college-wide requirements beyond the completion of a major. The teaching schedule of five courses over two semesters will include courses in all levels of our undergraduate statistics curriculum. Those with experience with a data-driven course will receive strong consideration. In letters of application, candidates should discuss their interest in developing as a teacher and scholar in an undergraduate, liberal-arts college that emphasizes close student-faculty interaction.
