Position Title:
Senior Analytics Analyst
Duties & Responsibilities:
This newly-created position is for a computationally-oriented applied statistician who will support the development and production of new products in the digital space. The successful candidate will have an understanding of survey research methodology and have experience in data mining and predictive analytics for real-world applications using large, complex datasets. This individual will have the opportunity to develop innovative new metrics and products. Responsibilities include integration of multiple data sources, modeling and estimation, imputation, programming prototypes, developing data editing/cleaning and quality assurance procedures, development and validation of weighting methodologies. Key Responsibilities - Play a key role in the development and adaptation of statistical methodologies for the development, maintenance and improvement of data products. - Understand the methodology behind all products/datasets relevant to work area - Serve as Subject Matter Expert on digital media, and serve as internal technical expert on digital data collected via passive measurement technologies. - Support new product development, particularly in the digital media space. Prototype new product ideas. - Play a lead role in the development of new digital measures and production processes, e.g. data cleaning/editing procedures, modeling and estimation, imputation, weighting. - Participate in establishing and maintaining policies and standards for new products. Develop and implement quality assurance procedures. Evaluate and improve internal tools and processes. - Perform proactive and reactive analyses to ensure data integrity. Monitor/document events that may affect the integrity or interpretation of panel data. Participate in developing solutions to resolve data issues. - Document processes/procedures; identify, propose and implement enhancements. - Query data from complex relational databases Stay abreast of new statistical research developments and pursue internal applications. - Routinely contribute to the dissemination of information about panel research methodologies and data products by contributing to conference papers and journal publications - Support internal constituencies with respect to data/information requests concerning technical interpretations of passive measurement data
Position Qualifications:
- Minimum Master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, operations research, or social sciences with a strong quantitative focus - Minimum 3 years’ work experience in the quantitative analysis of survey or media-related datasets - Demonstrated competence in multivariate applied statistics - Strong expertise in statistical packages such as SPSS/SAS - Competent in 1 or more programming languages - Ability to create innovative new metrics and products - Ability to quickly prototype new ideas - Strong experience querying and extracting data from relational databases (SQL, Oracle) - Experience in creating, handling and analyzing large-scale datasets - Familiarity and experience with survey research methodology and principles of probability samples and sample design - Aptitude to foresee, detect and trouble-shoot data anomalies - Ability to work in a time-critical production environment - Experience participating in the development of process improvement and quality assurance programs a plus; understanding the importance of quality control - Experience working with digital media data is a strong plus; being a personal gadget “geek,” particularly with mobile devices/apps, is a plus - Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical people - Ability to present complex information clearly - Strong analytical and critical thinking skills - Acute attention to detail and accuracy; strong organizational skills - Self-motivated with ability to work with minimal supervision; collaborative team member - Ability to thrive in an intellectually challenging, innovative, collaborative, professional environment.
