Founded in 1967, the Department of Statistics at the University of Manitoba has a long and rich history. The Department currently has 15 academic members, with research interests in various areas of statistics and probability. The Department has active B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. programs focusing on both theory and applications. The successful applicants will find that this is an exciting time to join the Department. Position Title:
Tenure-Track Assistant or Associate Professor in Statistics (to commence July 1, 2012 or on a mutually agreed upon date; position #13847)
Duties & Responsibilities:
Duties will include research, undergraduate and graduate teaching, student supervision, and service-related activities.
Position Qualifications:
Individuals with expertise in any area of statistics are encouraged to apply, although it would be an asset for a candidate to have research strengths in one or more areas identified in the Department’s strategic research plan. These areas include biostatistics, computational statistics, environmental statistics, generalized linear models, spatial statistics, statistical image analysis and other areas that complement the existing research strengths of the Department. Candidates with strong records of collaboration with researchers in other disciplines are also encouraged to apply. To be successful, a candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in statistics or a related discipline (or, for an Assistant Professor position, a Ph.D. degree to be completed by the starting date) and have a strong record or outstanding promise in both research and teaching. An individual who is hired at the Associate Professor level will be expected to play a leadership role in research.
