Duties & Responsibilities:
The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Missouri-Kansas City seeks applicants for two nine-month tenure-track assistant professor positions, one in Applied Mathematics (37003) and one in Statistics (54406), to start on August 15, 2012. Responsibilities will mainly include teaching undergraduate and graduate core mathematics and statistics courses, advising students, conducting research in mathematical sciences, and providing services to the department, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the University.
Position Qualifications:
For the Applied Mathematics position(37003), candidates must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics with specialization in Applied Mathematics by August 2012. Specialists in mathematical biology, computational biology, or related areas are especially encouraged to apply. For the Statistics position (54406), candidates must have a Ph.D. in Statistics or in Mathematics with specialization in Statistics by August 2012. Statisticians whose research expertise is in the area of bioinformatics, biomedical research, biostatistics, or statistical genetics are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and must demonstrate strong potential to succeed in both teaching and research. The candidates hired for this position are expected to contribute to the department's efforts of enhancing collaborative research, in the spirit of the interdisciplinary PhD program of the University.
