The Mathematics Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to significantly expand its faculty with research expertise in statistics or a related field and invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor and a tenured associate or full professor in statistics with the expected appointment to begin in Fall 2012. With about 36,000 students, UNT is the nation's 33rd largest university. As the largest, most comprehensive university in Dallas-Fort Worth, UNT drives the North Texas region. UNT offers 97 bachelor's, 88 master's and 40 doctoral degree programs, many nationally and internationally recognized. Position Title:
Tenure-track assistant professor and tenured associate or full professor in statistics
Duties & Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of these positions are to pursue research in statistics or a related field and teach undergraduate and graduate statistics courses. The normal teaching load is two courses per semester with the typical 2-1 load during the initial years of the appointment.
Position Qualifications:
The successful candidate for the assistant professor position will have a Ph.D. in statistics or a closely related field at the time of appointment. Preference will be given to outstanding applicants with previous academic research experience and/or college teaching experience and with strong interest in interdisciplinary research. The successful candidate for the associate or full professor position will also have a Ph.D. in statistics or closely related field, and have a strong record of teaching, an excellent record of research funded by extramural grants, and a national reputation.
