Position Title:
Assistant Professor – Mathematics
Duties & Responsibilities:
The Departments of Mathematics and Statistics at The University of Akron invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of probability, with preference given to areas of applied probability including, but not limited to, reliability, risk analysis, applied stochastic processes, or game theory. The job responsibilities include research and teaching mathematical and theoretical statistics courses. The new hire will have a joint appointment in Mathematics (primary) and Statistics.
Position Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a Ph.D. degree in mathematics, statistics or a closely related field by the time of employment and are expected to provide evidence of an active research program as well as evidence of teaching experience and interest in directing student research. Priority will be given to candidates with postdoctoral experience and/or demonstrated interest in pursuing external funding. Preference will be given to candidates whose research has strong orientation toward applications and potential for collaboration across campus. Salary is commensurate with background and experience. Startup funds are available.
