Assistant Professor of Statistics
Duties & Responsibilities:
Connecticut College is a private, highly selective institution with a strong commitment to excellent teaching and research. The College seeks creative scholars committed to working in a liberal arts setting, with a strong focus on engaged teaching, and shared governance. Tenure-track faculty members teach a 3-2 load (2-2 in the first year). In addition to providing ongoing support for teaching and research, the College offers the following resources for pre-tenured faculty: a summer stipend for the first two years, a supplementary research fund, and a one semester paid leave pending a successful third-year review. Position Qualifications:
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in statistics or a closely related field, a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, and the potential to carry on a successful research program in the setting of a small liberal arts college. In addition, candidates should be willing to participate in curriculum development, especially in the context of an interdisciplinary minor in applied statistics and a statistics concentration in the mathematics major. Collaboration with faculty and students in other disciplines on applied research projects and supervision of undergraduate students engaged in independent research are integral to this position.
