Position Title: Postdoctoral Position

Duties & Responsibilities: The postdoctoral researcher will be part of a project called PACES (Partnership in Applied Comparative Effectiveness Research). One part of this project, led by Dr. Michael Rosenblum, is to develop new methods and software tools for adaptive clinical trial designs; the postdoc would be supervised primarily by Dr. Rosenblum but also co-supervised by Dr. Scott Zeger. The position involves a mix of new methods development, data analysis, and creating open-source software. The position would be at Johns Hopkins Biostatistics Dept. The project involves a novel collaboration with researchers at the FDA, and access to quite interesting clinical trial data. The postdoctoral fellow will have three main roles. First, he/she will collaborate with the principal investigator in proving analytic results for adaptive clinical trial designs. Second, he/she will work with a statistical programmer in writing and validating a software tool to implement these methods. Third, the postdoctoral fellow will create simulation scenarios based on data sets from recently completed HIV treatment trials; these scenarios will be used to compare the performance of adaptive and fixed designs.

Position Qualifications: Experience in statistical theory, general statistics/biostatistics, and the open source statistical environment R.

Salary Range: $57,000 per year
