Position Title:
Research Analyst: Statistician
Duties & Responsibilities:
IDA has immediate career openings for at least two statisticians to support the broad statistical interests of the Department of Defense (DoD), with emphasis on operational and developmental testing and evaluation. IDA takes great pride in the high caliber and timeliness of its analyses, which are produced in an atmosphere that encourages independent thinking and objective results. Work at IDA is conducted in a team environment and involves multi-disciplinary approaches. IDA’s research supports and advises mid- and senior-level government officials. The positions involve statistical analysis, experimental design, collaborative research on new methodology, and development of case studies and educational materials. In addition to a focus on test and evaluation applications, the statisticians will have the opportunity to work broadly across IDA programs, including those in the Studies and Analysis Center and the Science and Technology Policy Institute.
Position Qualifications:
Strong scientific, analytic, and technical skills are required, as well as the ability to speak and write clearly, think analytically, and work independently. Candidates must have: o Ph.D. in statistics o strong computational skills o demonstrated ability in applied statistical work; prefer candidates with expertise in design of experiments, reliability, computer experiments and uncertainty quantification, Bayesian methods, spatio-temporal and longitudinal data, or survey methods.
