Position Title: Biostatistician - Epidemiology and Population Health

Duties & Responsibilities: POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: The Biostatistician will have responsibility for planning, conducting, and reporting statistical analyses of epidemiological data, under the guidance of the study Principal Investigator and co-Investigators. Responsibilities include: *Work with Principal Investigator and other faculty investigators to devise statistical analysis approaches. *Assist the Principal Investigator in supervising, teaching and mentoring trainees, students and fellows at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and its affiliated academic and medical institutions. *Manage the work of data entry, database management and information technology personnel. *Supervise study coordinators and other data collection personnel in the task of creating study and dataset documentation. *Develop large datasets of biometric/health information. *Implement statistical analyses using standard approaches used in epidemiological studies. *Create and present publication-ready tables and figures of study data and results. *Serve as proxy for Principal Investigator for reporting of study results to the Department of Epidemiology and Population Health, scientific journals, conference organizers, and funding agencies. *Maintain confidentiality of study data. *Handle secure transmission of patient data, both within the institution (Albert Einstein College of Medicine) and to external approved collaborators. *Maintain and manipulate datasets and other files on a secure server. *Have detailed knowledge of all study protocols, manuals of operations, data dictionaries, and other documentations. Write these kinds of materials when needed. *Maintain confidentiality of participant data, in accordance with Institutional Review Board and federal policies. *Contribute to preparation of progress reports, adverse event reports, and other communications with funding agencies and monitoring boards (including Institutional Review Board of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and Observational Study Monitoring Board of the National Institutes of Health). *Contribute to drafting and revision of literature reviews and scientific manuscripts. *Contribute to preparation of conference abstract submissions and presentations at scientific meetings, workshops and conferences. *Investigate novel statistical methods, when appropriate and necessary. *Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of computing infrastructure (desktop PCs, laptops, audiovisual, external storage, printers). *Contribute to preparation of grant applications.

Position Qualifications: Job Requirements Education and Experience *Graduate level training in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, population health sciences, public health, medicine or related field. Completed graduate training at Master's level or beyond required. *At least 3-5 years experience in various techniques of data analysis and data management required. Consideration will be given to length of previous employment in comparable or related positions, in particular productivity and experience working on research grants and scientific publications. Skills and Competencies *Strong proficiency in statistical computing and general office computing (i.e. MS Office) is required. Experience with programs including SAS, STATA, R, Graphpad-Prism, Epi-INFO is preferred. *Knowledge and applied experience with multivariable statistical modeling. *Ability to conduct statistical power calculations and sample size determination. *Knowledge of epidemiological study design: cohort studies, case-control studies, genome wide association studies, family-based studies. *Familiarity with data collection approaches, such as interview data, medical records data, clinical measurements, laboratory, genotyping. *Experience with projects funded by the National Institutes of Health or other comparable national organizations is preferred but not required. *Teaching and writing experience are preferred but not required.
