Applications for a 12-month tenure-eligible faculty appointment in the Department of Biostatistics at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) are being sought. Primary responsibilities include teaching and advising graduate students as well as conducting independent methodological research. In addition, the successful applicant will be expected to collaborate with researchers within the VCU medical community. The Department of Biostatistics has a 40+ year history in the VCU School of Medicine and is committed to excellence in both biostatistical research and graduate education. The department offers both MS and PhD programs in Biostatistics, including a concentration in Genomic Biostatistics, and an MS in Clinical Research in Biostatistics. Our biostatistics faculty, students, and staff collaborate with clinical investigators on the Medical College of Virginia Campus (which includes the Schools of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, and Allied Health) in a wide variety of biomedical research projects. Located in Richmond, Virginia, VCU has established relationships with the Virginia Department of Health as well as local and regional health departments.


We are seeking applicants with training and strong research potential. Applicants must be familiar with design and methods for longitudinal data, e.g., multilevel modeling mixed or hierarchical linear modeling, missing data methods, latent variable modeling, and must be able to work cooperatively and collegially with students and faculty with various levels of exposure to statistical methods. Additionally, applicants should have collaborative research experience. Ph.D. in biostatistics, statistics, or related field is required. Candidates should have demonstrated familiarity with statistical programming environments, and excellent oral and written communication skills are essential.
