Virginia Commonwealth University Post Doctoral Position in Respiratory Genetics

Post-doc developing statistical methods for genomewide association studies

We are inviting applications for a postdoctoral position in statistical genetics. The successful applicant will collaborate with statisticians and geneticists to develop novel methods to design adaptive multistage genome-wide association studies in a cost-effective way and optimize subsequent replication efforts. He or she will also apply and test these methods using data from several genome-wide association studies.

Ideal candidates will have a Ph.D. in statistics, genetics, bioinformatics, or related fields and should have substantial computational expertise. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Experience with R and/or C++ is a plus.

The post-doc will work with Drs Edwin van den Oord and József Bukszár at the Center for Biomarker Research and Personalized Medicine at Medical College / Virginia Institute for Psychiatric and Behavioral Genetics at Virginia Commonwealth University. In addition, we envision interactions with several external collaborators such as colleagues participating in the psychiatric GWAS meta-analysis consortium. The position is initially for two years and offers ample opportunities for publishing articles and career development.
