Openings for MS Statisticians
Division of Epidemiology

The Division of Epidemiology at the University of Utah has openings for one and possibly two MS biostatisticians to become part of a productive clinical and health outcomes research team. The Division of Epidemiology is an academic home for faculty with methodological expertise in epidemiology, biostatistics, informatics, health services research, and community-based participatory research. Clinical and population areas of research focus include cancer, infectious diseases, infection control, adverse event monitoring, nutrition, patient safety, and genetics. Inter-disciplinary and inter-organizational collaborations with other investigators encompass many academic departments, including internal medicine, pediatrics, biomedical informatics, psychology, anthropology, computer science, and geography.

The successful candidate(s) will be skilled at data analysis and interpretation, able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, interested in learning new statistical methodology and performing non-standard statistical analyses, and proficient in statistical programming (e.g., STATA, SAS, R). The ideal applicant will have an excellent understanding of the research process and integrate well with a multi-disciplinary team including other biostatisticians, epidemiologists, and other health science researchers. He/she will be expected to work as part of a multidisciplinary research team within the Division of Epidemiology and may also collaborate as part of a statistical collaborative team with researchers having a variety of medical specialties. Both full time (40 hrs/week) and part time (20 hrs/week) positions may be available.

Minimum Qualifications:

A master’s degree in statistics or related field is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
