Assistant/Associate/Full Professor

Department of Epidemiology

The Department of Epidemiology is recruiting for a fulltime tenure-track faculty position in molecular or genetic epidemiology. The program is comprised of leading molecular epidemiologists, statistical geneticists and nutritional epidemiologists with strong and productive collaborations with basic and clinical scientists throughout The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center. The selected candidate will have the opportunity to participate in ongoing research with world-class multidisciplinary researchers throughout the Cancer Center and Texas Medical Center, and will be expected to develop and maintain an original, creative and independent research program in genetic or molecular epidemiology with evidence of high quality and productivity. This requires publications in high impact peer-reviewed journals and demonstrating the potential for successful submission and management of investigator-initiated grant proposals.

M. D. Anderson offers many opportunities in a growing and vibrant research, clinical and training environment with available datasets from cohort, case control and family studies for genetic, epidemiologic and pharmacogenetic research initiatives. Applicants should hold a doctoral degree in epidemiology, genetics, molecular biology, statistical genetics or a related biomedical field. Specialized training in molecular epidemiology, genetics, molecular biology, systems biology, or statistical methods for complex high dimensional data is desirable. The candidate must possess excellent written and communication skills as evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, presentation skills for professional meetings and the ability to obtain extramural grant support. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.

Send a letter of intent, curriculum vitae, names and addresses of three references and a brief summary of past research accomplishments and future research plans to

Dr. Margaret Spitz by July 30th.
