Masters Level Biostatistician Position
The University of Pennsylvania Center for Clinical Epidemiology and
Biostatistics (CCEB) and Penn Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) has an
immediate opening for a Masters level Biostatistician. We have a highly
multidisciplinary team of investigators that include statistical
geneticists, cardiologists, and biostatisticians. The Biostatistician
will participate in ongoing genetics studies, including genome-wide
association studies on coronary artery disease, high HDL, and type 2
diabetes, and large scale candidate gene studies on heart failure and
atherosclerosis.
Job responsibilities include:
• Perform statistical analyses on genome-wide association studies and
large-scale candidate gene studies under the direction of senior
investigators.
• Develop programs, graphical presentation of results, and written
reports with interpretations and explanations of statistical techniques
used.
• Conduct statistical analyses to support publications and
presentations.
Required qualifications:
• Master’s degree in biostatistics, or statistical genetics, or genetic
epidemiology, or bioinformatics, or computational biology, or a
Master’s degree in statistics/mathematics with an emphasis in applied
statistics.
• Expertise in SAS and R is required. Experience in Unix/Linux,
knowledge of programming languages such as Perl, shell scripts, and
C/C++ is highly desirable.
• Strong communication skills.
