The University of California San Francisco Center for Bioinformatics and Molecular Biostatistics in the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics and the Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center are recruiting for a full-time Adjunct or In Residence faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in cancer bioinformatics.

Applicants must possess a doctoral degree in statistics, biostatistics or a closely related discipline. Research experience in biostatistics, bioinformatics, or a related field of at least two years is required, and this experience should ideally be in the cancer domain.

The applicant should possess experience and familiarity with genomics (including array platforms), proteomics, DNA sequence analysis, bioinformatics tools & algorithms, and the R package. A proven track record of funded research, preferably from the NIH, and a productive record of publication is required.

Responsibilities for this position are primarily related to the research conducted in the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, where the successful applicant will be a key member of the Biostatitics/Bioinfomatics Core. The academic appointment will be in the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics.

Specific responsibilities in the Cancer Center include: liaison with clinical and translational investigators who utilize genomics and/or proteomics technologies in their research, with involvements ranging from proposal development through data analyses; provision of bioinformatics instruction at all levels; and pursuit of an independent bioinformatics research program, becoming partially self-supporting with own grants.
