POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR OR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN STATISTICAL GENETICS
A Research Associate or postdoctoral position in statistical genetics
will be available in the Department of Human Genetics at the
University of Chicago under the supervision of Mark Abney. The general
area of research is the development of statistical and computational
methodology for the mapping of complex traits in humans. Sub areas of
major interest include methods for mapping in large, complex
pedigrees, genomewide association mapping and methods for detecting
gene-gene and gene-environment interactions. A suitable applicant will
hold a PhD in statistics, biostatistics, computational biology or
another highly quantitative field such as physics or computer
science. Candidates with PhDs in genetics, molecular biology or other
related areas who have substantial computational or statistical
expertise are also encouraged to apply. Applicants should have
substantial programming experience with languages such as C/C++ and
R. The succesful candidate will be primarily responsible for methods
and software development and data analysis. Applications will be
considered until the position is filled. Applicant should email a
curriculum vita, statement of research interests (two pages) and three
