Texas A&M University invites applications for the position of Executive
Director of Computing and Information Services (CIS) and Deputy Chief
Information Officer. CIS provides central information technology
services to Texas A&M University. In addition, CIS provides some
services to other members of the Texas A&M University System. The
Executive Director reports to the Vice President and Associate Provost
for Information Technology, and oversees a team of eight Associate
Directors responsible for support in areas including academic,
research, and administrative computing as well as Internet services,
networking, security, and operating systems. CIS employs approximately
200 full time employees, and a slightly larger number of part-time

Minimum qualifications for the position include a Masters Degree in
Computer Science/Engineering or related field; eight years of recent
experience in IT operations (or ten years of recent experience with a
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field)
including at least five years in management of IT operations; and a
demonstrated ability to effectively manage personnel.

Strong preference will be given to applicants with: a Masters or Ph.D
in Computer Science/Engineering or related field; recent experience in
a senior leadership position directing and coordinating the activities
of a higher education information technology organization; a
combination of both higher education and private sector experience; a
demonstrated ability to successfully manage risk, change, and
innovation; a demonstrated ability to effectively lead and manage
successful implementations of emerging technologies; a demonstrated
ability to successfully lead and manage complex enterprise-level IT
support services and operations; and a demonstrated ability to make
effective use of strategic planning, project management, budgeting,
resource allocation, and the coordination of people and resources.
