College - Faculty Position
The
Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Swarthmore College invites
applications for a one-year visiting position in Statistics at the rank
of Assistant Professor beginning Fall 2008. In an exceptional
case, a
more senior appointment may be considered. A Ph.D. in Statistics
in
hand or nearly completed by the starting date is expected.
Applicants
should have records of excellence in both scholarship and undergraduate
teaching with particular importance given to the ability to teach
introductory courses in statistics. The teaching load is three
sections of courses in one semester and two sections in the other;
multiple sections of the same course in a given semester may be
possible.
Applications
should include a curriculum vitae and three letters of recommendation,
at least one of which addresses teaching. A cover letter and
personal
statements regarding teaching and research should also be
included.
