DESCRIPTION:
Applications are invited for one or more faculty positions at the Assistant Professor level starting August 2008. Responsibilities include teaching, scholarship and service to the School, College and the Institute. The successful applicant is expected to develop and teach new courses in mathematical sciences. S/He will work closely with undergraduate and graduate students in traditional classroom, experiential learning and research settings. Applicants should have fluent written and verbal communication skills in English. Applicants must be able to contribute in meaningful ways to the institution’s commitment to all diversities, including recruitment and retention of underrepresented groups.
Salary: Salary commensurate with experience.
THE COLLEGE/ DEPARTMENT:

The School of Mathematical Sciences offers Bachelors degrees in Applied Mathematics, Computational Mathematics and Applied Statistics, as well as a Masters degree in Applied and Computational Mathematics. QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED: Ph.D. in an area of Computational and Applied Mathematics or Applied Statistics. A strong commitment to and proven ability for continued scholarly activity. A strong commitment to and proven ability in undergraduate teaching, evidenced by one or more years higher education teaching experience. Experience developing and teaching new courses in mathematical sciences.
PREFERRED: More than one year teaching experience in a university setting. Post-doc or equivalent research experience in the above noted discipline. Ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the institution’s commitment to all diversities, including recruitment and retention of minorities and underrepresented groups.
