The Methodology Center at The Pennsylvania State University is accepting applications for postdoctoral researchers and research associates in methodology. Qualified individuals will have a Ph.D. in statistics or biostatistics with a demonstrated interest in the social, behavioral or health sciences, or a Ph.D. in the social, behavioral or health sciences with very strong methodological skills and interests. In addition, the successful research associate applicant will have demonstrated productivity in terms of published journal articles and scientific conference presentations.
 
Postdoctoral researchers will assist a large NIH-funded project focused on the advancement and dissemination of statistical methodology related to research on the prevention and treatment of problem behaviors. Possible areas of focus include new methods for the analysis of intensive longitudinal data, the application of engineering approaches to behavioral interventions, causal inference, and extensions of latent class and latent transition analysis. The possibility also exists for postdoctoral researchers to develop an innovative research program focused on issues in statistics, research design, and measurement, with an opportunity for advancement to a research associate position after two years. Research associates in the Methodology Center are expected to conduct original research in methodology in collaboration with other scientists in the Center, publish in peer-reviewed journals, present at scientific meetings, and successfully pursue external funding.
 
Successful applicants will have exceptional resources to facilitate their research, including access to administrative and software support staff, any required hardware and software, and travel funding for at least one scientific conference annually. Experience with statistical programming and computer simulations is desirable. The position is for one year, with excellent possibility of re-funding for at least one additional year. The salary and benefits associated with this position are competitive.
