Faculty Research Assistant in Applied Environmental Statistics

The Department of Statistics at Oregon State University (OSU) invites applicants for a Faculty Research Assistant position providing statistical support to state, local, and tribal groups concerning management of natural resources. This is a 0.75 FTE, 12-month fixed-term position. The holder of the position will have the opportunity for increasing the FTE above the 75% level through securing additional sources of grant/contract funding, and/or possibly through teaching.

Required qualifications include (1) M.S. or higher degree in Statistics and experience in environmental statistics, (2) good technical command of statistical techniques, (3) familiarity with R or SPLUS, (4) effective oral and written communication skills and (5)
ability to work well with both statisticians and non-statisticians. Preferred qualifications include (1) Ph.D. in Statistics or Natural Resources with strong background in statistics, (2) experience with statistical problems involving natural resource monitoring or designing and analyzing environmental studies, (3) a demonstrable commitment to
promoting and enhancing diversity.
