Monsanto is an Ag leader creating scientific breakthroughs around the world. We currently have an outstanding opportunity available for a SENIOR BIOSTATISTICIAN to join the Research and Development team at our World Headquarters in St. Louis, MO.

This skilled professional will be responsible for providing statistical consulting leadership to support transgenic discovery and development efforts in biotechnology organization for various crops in Trait Development Pipeline, and Yield and Emerging Technology programs. Will oversee consulting support which includes identifying appropriate experimental designs including sample size computation, and conducting analyses for efficacy testing of transgenes using data on yield, physiological, metabolic, and other agronomic traits coming from field trials, controlled environment tests, and laboratory experiments. In this role the candidate will be managing and undertaking large data analyses efforts and delivering high quality results for multiple projects to meet critical business deadlines; preparing and presenting scientific analysis reports to researchers and working closely with various biotech trait team leads, pipeline team representatives, and data management teams on several statistical, agronomic, and data management issues. Will also be working with client groups to proactively identify opportunities for methodology improvements to meet the biotech business needs, collaborating with members from Crop Biometrics and Technology Pipeline Solutions teams to develop and implement methodology enhancements, and promoting statistical thinking and provide statistical training to researchers.

Successful candidates will possess the following important qualifications:

• Ph.D. degree in Statistics, Biostatistics or a Statistics related discipline

• 5+ years of relevant experience

• Ph.D. degree in an agricultural discipline (e.g., Agronomy, Plant Breeding, Plant Genetics, etc.), in combination with extensive training and experience in statistics, is also acceptable

• Strong interest in applied statistical analysis with ability to solve complex statistical problems via innovative use of statistical methodologies

• Expertise in Mixed Models and Experimental Design

• Strong leadership, communication and teamwork skills

• Efficiency with SAS

• Experience with other statistical software packages such as S-Plus, ASReml, and R is desirable
