Faculty Positions


The Biostatistics Department at the Medical College of Georgia (MCG) invites applications for tenure-track or tenured faculty positions at Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, statistics or a closely related field with strong research interests in biostatistical methods and biomedical applications, and strong ability and interest in teaching and mentoring students. Experience and demonstrated interest in clinical trials, cancer research, epidemiology or statistical genetics is highly desirable. Interest and ability in active collaboration with other investigators in biomedical research at MCG and outside will be an important factor in the selection of candidates as will teaching experience in graduate-level biostatistics courses. All candidates must show evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidates for Associate or Full Professor should have a nationally and internationally recognized record of innovative methodological research in biostatistics, significant experience in interdisciplinary research, established track record of extramural funding, and demonstrated leadership potential.  Candidates for Assistant Professor should provide evidence of outstanding methodological and interdisciplinary research potential and should, preferably, have relevant postdoctoral training.

The Department of Biostatistics offers a masters and a Ph.D. program in Biostatistics, and a masters and a certificate program in Clinical and Translational Science. Plans are underway to start a Division of Epidemiology within the department in the immediate future. The new faculty members will join a highly interdisciplinary Biostatistics faculty and will play an integral role in the ongoing expansion of biostatistics research and education at MCG. The academic departments and research centers at MCG provide rich opportunities for interdisciplinary research.
