invites applications for tenure-track or tenured faculty positions at
Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. Applicants must have a
doctoral degree in biostatistics, epidemiology, statistics or a
closely related field with strong research interests in
biostatistical methods and biomedical applications, and strong
ability and interest in teaching and mentoring students. Experience
and demonstrated interest in clinical trials, cancer research,
epidemiology or statistical genetics is highly desirable. Interest
and ability in active collaboration with other investigators in
biomedical research at MCG and outside will be an important factor in
the selection of candidates as will teaching experience in
graduate-level biostatistics courses. All candidates must show
evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills.
Candidates for Associate or Full Professor should have a nationally
and internationally recognized record of innovative methodological
research in biostatistics, significant experience in
interdisciplinary research, established track record of extramural
funding, and demonstrated leadership potential. Candidates for
Assistant Professor should provide evidence of outstanding
methodological and interdisciplinary research potential and should,
preferably, have relevant postdoctoral training.
The Department of Biostatistics offers a masters and a Ph.D. program in Biostatistics, and a masters and a certificate program in Clinical and Translational Science. Plans are underway to start a Division of Epidemiology within the department in the immediate future. The new faculty members will join a highly interdisciplinary Biostatistics faculty and will play an integral role in the ongoing expansion of biostatistics research and education at MCG. The academic departments and research centers at MCG provide rich opportunities for interdisciplinary research.
