The Department of Biostatistics at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine seek to fill a tenured or tenure-track professorial position with an outstanding individual who will be a leader in the application of statistics in health sciences as Director of the Johns Hopkins Biostatistics Center. The Center is dedicated to serving the Johns Hopkins Health Institutions, including the Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Public Health, and the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System, as well as selected external clients, by providing state-of-the-art biostatistics expertise. The Center services over 300 Johns Hopkins clients each year. It is a core of the new Johns Hopkins Institute for Clinical and Translational Research.
The Director will be a professor in the Department of Biostatistics, contributing in research, education and service. As Center director, (s)he will be responsible for strategic leadership of biostatistics as a contributor to the research enterprise at Johns Hopkins. The Center director and his or her administrative director will have responsibility for directing the day-to-day operations of the Center, including interactions to develop the clinician-scientist clientele, organizing services from the Center’s statistical and computer experts, and ensuring that the highest quality, timely service is provided. The Director will also play a key role in the Department’s PhD and masters degree programs through applied curriculum development and mentoring graduate students who serve as Center consultants.
Applicants should have a doctoral degree in a statistical science, administrative experience, leadership and communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a clinical and academic setting.
