A postdoctoral research position in genetic epidemiology/statistical genetics is available at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center provides a challenging academic and supportive multi-disciplinary research environment.
We are seeking a recent or prospective doctoral graduate (PhD or equivalent qualification) with a background related subject areas. This could include, but is not limited to, training in biostatistics, epidemiology, quantitative genetics, or closely related field (please note that this is not a laboratory-based position). The post-doctoral fellow/research associate will work directly with Drs. Charles Kooperberg and Ulrike Peters on genetic association studies conducted within the Women’s Health Initiative. The Women’s Health Initiative is one of the largest and most comprehensive studies of women’s health and is at the forefront in women’s health research. Our studies’ results have been published in the top medical journals and have had significant impact on women’s health. The Women’s Health Initiative is designed to investigate strategies for the prevention and control of some of the most common causes of morbidity and mortality among postmenopausal women, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, and osteoporotic fractures. The successful applicant will work in a multidisciplinary research teams to perform data analyses, develop and/or implement novel statistical methods relevant for genetic association studies, specifically in the area of gene-environmental interaction analysis and to publish research results.
Minimum Qualifications
This position requires a highly motivated, individual with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Expertise in statistical and computational methods for the analysis of complex, high-dimensional genotype data is desirable, but not required. The incumbent will be expected to work independently to complete data analysis. In addition, he/she will participate in the presentation of research as well as in the writing of publications to disseminate the analyses.
The position is open immediately, with some flexibility regarding the start date.
