Faculty positions

The department of Statistics and Actuarial Science at East China Normal University (ECNU) invites applications for two or three full-time faculty positions at Associate or Full Professor level. Applicants must have a doctoral degree in statistics, biostatistics, or a related field. Primary consideration for these positions will be given to candidates with research interests in biostatistical methods, probability, financial statistics, and actuarial science. Candidates for Full Professor should have a recognized record of methodological research, experience of extramural funding, and demonstrated leadership potential. Candidates for Associate Professor should provide evidence of methodological and interdisciplinary research potential and should, preferably, have relevant postdoctoral training. Faculty responsibilities include methodological research, research collaboration, and teaching.

Preferred starting date is September 1, 2008, but is negotiable. Salary and start-up funding will be commensurate with qualification and experience.

The department of Statistics and Actuarial Science, formerly the department of Statistics, is one of the first three mathematical statistics departments established in China. The department currently has 23 faculty members and offers the B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Statistics and actuarial science. The new faculty members of biostatistics will join the newly founded biostatistics center which offers many opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and consulting.
