Cleveland Clinic
Biostatistician

The Cleveland Clinic Department of Quantitative Health Sciences

The Cleveland Clinic Department of Quantitative Health Sciences (QHS) and Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine of Case Western Reserve University (CCLCM) seek a biostatistician with strong interests in statistical education in the health sciences and collaborative medical research, to play a leading role in quantitative education in an innovative research-oriented medical school program.

Cleveland Clinic is a non-profit group practice and academic medical center routinely ranked among the nation’s top five hospitals in annual surveys by RTI International for U.S. News and World Report. QHS houses almost 100 employees including approximately 20 Ph.D. and 35 M.S. statisticians in a Research Informatics Core and four sections: Biostatistics, Statistical Genetics and Bioinformatics, Clinical Trials, and Health Outcomes Research and Clinical Epidemiology. CCLCM, which enrolled its first class in 2004, conducts a highly-selective five-year program for 32 aspiring physician-investigators per year. Students receive full-time research training in two summers surrounding their first year, and have continuing research experiences throughout training, including an M.S. level research project mentored by a physician-researcher or Lerner Research Institute medical scientist. The successful candidate will teach biostatistics and clinical research methods to medical students, residents, fellows, and staff; participate in medical school and graduate degree administration; and collaborate in research mentorship and medical, educational, and/or statistical research.

Candidates with a Ph.D. in Biostatistics or related discipline, and experience in collaborative health science research and teaching, will be preferred. Appointment at the Assistant Staff (Assistant Professor equivalent) or Project Scientist (Research Assistant Professor equivalent) is anticipated but applicants at other levels, including experienced candidates without doctoral statistical degrees, may be considered.
