Coordinate and manage lab’s data; train and supervise research assistants, student staff, and trainees for data entry, processing, and analysis; design and perform statistical analyses; assist in the dissemination of research findings; assist in project design and development, fund raising, grant writing; serve on lab’s management team for planning and decision making.


Specific Tasks

  1. Data coordination

    1. prepare variable list and file structure for data

    2. organize, coordinate, and supervise data entry

    3. retrieve data from raw files and organize into final data sets (e.g., Palm data, sleep data, performance test data, interview data)

    4. oversee data documentation and backup

  2. Ambulatory data collection systems (e.g., actigraphy, daysimetry)

    1. Set up, upgrade, write procedures, maintain physical systems

    2. Train staff to initialize/download, score, diary check, assess reliability

    3. Analysis and validation of new systems

  3. Institutional Review Board and compliance of research staff and collaborators for required training and certification

    1. Oversee and manage procedures

    2. Oversee preparation of proposals, annual reports, revisions to protocol, consent forms by research assistants; prepare these documents as necessary

    3. Train RAs and trainees in consent form revision and use

    4. Oversee and manage maintenance of appropriate compliance with IRB and Bradley Hospital training and certification

  1. Computer system oversight

    1. Troubleshoot computers and software

    2. Maintain records of licenses and renew when necessary

    3. Provide interface with Lifespan tech services

  2. Assist in grant development and preparation; assist with grant progress reports, specifically preliminary analysis

  3. Consult with trainees and faculty on statistical procedures; help train students and graduate students on data processing and statistical procedures.

  4. Design and perform data reduction and analyses for abstracts, papers, progress reports, meeting abstracts, talks, and grant applications.

  5. Serve on laboratory’s management team and assist director in planning and decision making.


Basic Knowledge, Background, and Experience

Post baccalaureate degree in behavioral science and/or statistics with experience coordinating and analyzing complex data sets or statistical consulting. Comfortable with Macintosh environment. Expertise in data analyses (SPSS preferred) approaches for experimental, epidemiological, observational, and longitudinal study designs. Familiarity with biological and behavioral data. MatLab experience a plus. Behavioral genetics experience a plus. Scientific writing skills a plus. Experience working with or consulting to groups carrying out biobehavioral science will be helpful, along with experience managing data and staff.
