The Staff Scientist biostatistician will provide statistical leadership and support for the Center for HIV/AIDS Vaccine Immunology (CHAVI) network within SCHARP (Statistical Center for HIV/AIDS Research & Prevention) involving a vibrant program of collaborative research and related statistical methodologic research. CHAVI is an international NIH-funded research consortium under the Global HIV Vaccine Enterprise, conducting a broad program of discovery and translational and clinical research with the overarching goal of developing an effective HIV vaccine. SCHARP serves as the Statistical and Data Management Center (SDMC) for CHAVI under the leadership of Dr. Steve Self. The Staff Scientist will work directly with Dr. Self, other faculty statisticians and multidisciplinary research teams to determine optimum statistical study designs, perform data analyses, develop and implement novel statistical methods related to CHAVI scientific goals, and to publish research results. The Staff Scientist will also serve as leader of a team of doctoral and masters-level statisticians working on a variety of data analysis projects and will facilitate communication between this team and external collaborators. The CHAVI research program generates a diversity of data types including complex immunologic measurements, viral genome sequences, and human genomic measurements (SNP, transcriptome). Experience with statistical and computational methods for the analysis of complex, high-dimensional biological data are important qualifications for this position.
A PH.D. in biostatistics is required. An important component of the position is providing statistical consulting with scientists from other disciplines; proven experience in collaborative relationships is highly desirable.
