Sponsorship of Computer Accounts

Faculty members wishing to request a sponsored account should contact the system staff system@stat.ufl.edu about the creation of the account and to fill out the sponsorship form.

Faculty Account
Definition person appointed to teach and/or research in or for the department Creation when hired/appointed Duration until they change positions away from the department or die (emeritus can stay active) Renewal waived since they're here and easily tracked down
Student Account
Definition degree-seeking undergraduate, post-bacc or graduate in statistics Creation when enrolled as degree-seeking Duration until they earn the degree or withdraw from the program Renewal semesterly based on degree-seeking status (grace periods for summers and internships as long as they're degree-seeking)
Staff Account
Definition employee working in or for the department in support roles Creation when hired/appointed Duration until they change positions away from the department or retire Renewal waived since they're here and easily tracked down
Grant Account
Definition person working with a faculty member on a grant project which has a specific funding source and task Creation at the request of the Principal Investigator for the project Sponsor Principal Investigator (forms PS PDF) Duration until funding for the project terminates Renewal on a yearly basis, since funding is usually renewed annually for grant projects
Research Account
Definition person involved in collaborative research with a faculty member; requires statement of intent from the sponsor Creation at request of faculty member with whom the user will be working Sponsor faculty member (forms PS PDF) Duration length of the research project, eg. until the paper is published or the Nobel Prize is awarded Renewal on a 6-month basis. After the measurable project is concluded, a specific next research activity can restart the duration, but a nebulous answer of "working together" may be grounds for account removal until something is being worked on in the future.
Admin-Guest Account
Definition person with area of expertise/ability which assists the departmental staff Creation at the request of a system administrator for technical collaboration Sponsor system administrator (forms PS PDF) Duration until the technical issues are resolved Renewal on a 6-month basis
