Configuring Mozilla 1.6 for IMAP on old server minke



Reading email with IMAP requires Mozilla 1.6 (although, we have found versions as early as 1.2 work as well, you will miss out on Mozilla's junk mail controls). Using the IMAP protocol instead of POP allows a user to read email and save it on the server from any computer in any location, including home computers and computers at other institutions. IMAP with SSL, which Mozilla supports, makes the connection secure so that your password cannot be seen on the network.

If you have previously used another mail program, please contact system@stat.ufl.edu about converting your current mail into IMAP compatible mail and moving any existing mail folders to the appropriate location. That way no mail will be lost, and all of your existing messages will be available to you.
