    Air Travel to North Florida

The Gainesville Regional Airport is served mainly by Atlantic Southeast Airlines and US Air Express, the commuter partners of Delta and US Airways, respectively. This means you will have to go through either Atlanta (on Delta) or Charlotte (on US Airways). It is a short cab ride from the airport to the university (6 miles).

If you want a direct flight, you can fly to Jacksonville International Airport (1.5 hour drive) or Orlando International Airport (2 hour drive) and drive to Gainesville. A postscript map of north Florida with directions to Gainesville from these two airports is available. If you are driving from Jacksonville, do not speed between I-10 and Gainesville, you will be ticketed with high probability. If you are driving from Orlando, the turnpike and I-75 is the fastest, but US 441 is a nicer drive.

If you need more specific directions, feel free to ask.
