Position Title: Visiting Assistant Professor of Statistical and Data Sciences, MassMutual Faculty Fellow

Duties and Responsibilities: The Program in Statistical & Data Sciences at Smith College invites applications for a one-year, non-tenure-track position at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, to begin July 1, 2018. This position is part of a partnership with MassMutual for Women in Data Science, and comes with a reduced teaching load. Teaching responsibilities for this position will include three courses over two semesters in statistics and data science, as well as one continuing education course for MassMutual data scientists at the company’s nearby Amherst premises. Faculty Fellows may also have the opportunity to engage in sponsored research with MassMutual.

Position Qualifications: Ph.D. in statistics, data science, computer science, or a closely-related field is expected by time of appointment. Fields of particular interest include (but are not limited to): data visualization, data journalism, and machine learning. Candidates from groups underrepresented in STEM are encouraged to apply.
