Statistical analyst

Company Information: The Clinical Trials and Outcomes Branch of the Intramural Research Program, National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) is recruiting a statisitcal analyst. Research in the branch is in the broad areas of health outcomes and health services research. We focus on studies of health outcomes of patients with rheumatic diseases, using observational studies, clinical trials, and analyses of large administrative datasets. The branch includes 2 physician investigators, 1 PhD biostatistician, 2 post-doctoral fellows, and support personnel. The position is located on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland.

Position Title: Statistical analyst

Duties and Responsibilities: The candidate will work with the physician investigators and PhD biostatistician on projects related to health outcomes. The successful candidate will be expected to be skilled in statistical computing, the application of statistics in epidemiology, and longitudinal data analysis. He/she will be responsible for designing and implementing analyses under the direction of the PhD biostatistician and MD investigators, and for statistical programming.

Position Qualifications: Master’s degree in statistics, biostatistics, economics, or a related field, and at least 3 years of applied work experience. Ability to identify and run appropriate statistical analyses. Proficiency in SAS and R are required. Experience in Python is helpful. Expertise in data management and documentation. Prior experience working with large administrative datasets, such as Medicare or Medicaid, would be very beneficial.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience.
