Position Title: Data Science Summer Internship Program

Duties and Responsibilities: Summary:
• A full-time (40 hours/ week) 10-week program placement during the summer at Darden’s RSC in Orlando, FL
o May 21, 2018 through July 27, 2018
• Interns are paid $30/ hour and benefits include paid time for holidays (Memorial Day and Independence Day) and dining discounts

Housing & Transportation:
Individuals are responsible to provide their own housing and reliable transportation to/from work during the internship experience.

Dress and Appearance Guidelines:
RSC employees are welcome to wear casual attire every day of the week. This includes jeans, capris, T-shirts, and athletic shoes. Business casual attire may be required for certain occasions.

About Darden’s Business Analytics

Darden Business Analytics is an eight person team responsible for providing data, visualization, and modeling support to Operations, Marketing, and Finance business partners. The team reports to the Darden SVP, Finance.

The Data Science Summer Interns will work on the Advanced Analytics team in the Business Analytics department. The interns will report to the Manager of Advanced Analytics and will be focused on a project that allows them to provide recommendations and insights to business leaders based on analysis of and conclusions from multiple data sets, utilize advanced models, and quantify revenue opportunities.

Other Internship highlights:
• Wrangle real world large data sets
• Utilize Cross Industry Standard Practice for Data Mining
• Apply contemporary modeling techniques including machine learning
• Experience being part of a data science team (hard work, complex ideas, fun, etc.)
• Present complex scientific findings to senior leaders

Position Qualifications: Candidates must meet the following qualifications:
• Successful completion of first year of Master’s program in Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics or comparable program
• Must be able to commit to a 10 week placement scheduled to begin Monday, May 21, 2018
• Experience in one or more statistical programming languages (e.g. R, Python, SAS, SPSS)
• Experience using data mining tools and advanced analytical methods
• Excellent analytical skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrates curiosity about data
• Flexible and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
• US work authorization required

Salary Range: $30.00 per hour
