Company Information: Department of Statistical Sciences at the University of Toronto is looking for a postdoctoral fellow with strong skills in mathematical statistics, optimization theory or statistical applications to tackle statistical machine learning problems and big data science.

Position Title: Postdoctoral Fellow

Duties and Responsibilities: Successful candidates are expected to work with Professor Dehan Kong and Professor Qiang Sun on research topics including but not limited to high dimensional statistics, statistical machine learning, manifold learning, robust regression, functional data analysis, nonasymptotic inference, next-generation optimization algorithms including statistical stochastic optimization and distributed/decentralized optimization, with applications to neuroimaging data analysis. The candidate will also have the opportunity to work with other faculty members in statistics and other departments at the University of Toronto. The successful candidate will be expected to publish and present research results in appropriate professional publications and venues. Strong oral and written communication skills are a must, as well as an enthusiasm for exciting research. This is a one year appointment with a possibility of renewal based on satisfactory performance.

Position Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or other relevant discipline is required.
