The Oregon State University (OSU)/Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) College of Pharmacy is the oldest Pharmacy program in the state of Oregon. The College represents a joint academic program and the PharmD degree is jointly conferred by OSU and OHSU. The primary campus is located on the main OSU in Corvallis, Oregon. The second campus is located at OHSU in Portland, Oregon, which is the location for the current position.

Position Title: Research Analyst/Project Manager

Duties and Responsibilities: The Oregon State University/Oregon Health & Science University College of Pharmacy invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, Research Analyst/Project Manager position to be based in Portland, Oregon. This position provides key scientific, technical, and administrative support for an investigator conducting clinical epidemiologic research in the areas of pharmacoepidemiology, antibiotic-resistant bacterial diseases, antibiotic utilization, and healthcare-associated infections. Requires expertise in biostatistics, epidemiology, data management of large relational datasets, statistical programming in SAS, and strong organizational skills. This position will work collaboratively with the PI and collaborators to develop new research projects by advising on statistical design and analysis, data collection and management, and other aspects of the research process as appropriate. The role requires extensive coordination and collaboration with research team members and collaborators, and thus requires excellent interpersonal skills. Support and collaboration in the preparation of grant applications through writing and power/sample size calculations will also be expected.This position will support the McGregor Research Group:

Position Duties:
60%  Data management and statistical analysis of epidemiologic studies; facilitate electronic data collection by working directly with database managers; Utilize SAS, and other software as needed, to perform data management, cleaning and statistical analysis. Primary data collection will also be performed as needed (e.g. chart review, development and deployment of electronic surveys).

15%  Perform scientific writing/editing of protocols, manuscripts, grants and other related items; participate in interpretation of analysis and preparation of results for publication/dissemination. Prepares tables, figures, and written summaries of study results; interprets results, and assists in the preparation of manuscripts in collaboration with users and under moderate to minimal supervision.

15%  Research project management and regulatory activities (including oversight of IRB approvals). Plan, schedule, coordinate, and monitor meetings and site visits. Other general research project management activities as they arise.

5% Responsible for assisting students/trainees and other workers in the design and conduct of epidemiologic research, and ensuring the processes are effective and contributes to specific outcomes.

5% Responsible for maintenance and oversight of research data repository. Includes tracking data submissions and releases; liaising with database managers/analysts who serve as supplier of data.

Position Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Public Health or related field.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Expertise in SAS base and statistical packages, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Strong knowledge base in statistics
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality of healthcare/research data
Basic understanding and knowledge of scientific/medical terminology and research theory
This position is designated as a critical, security-sensitive or safety-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be deemed fit for duty at placement and while serving in the position

Preferred (Special) Qualifications:
Masters degree in Biostatistics, MPH with emphasis in Biostatistics/Epidemiology, or related field
Experience working in a health care system or with health care-based research/data (e.g. electronic health record data)
Work experience in research setting, data management or statistical analysis
Authorship/co-authorship on research publications
Experience in grant writing/support of grant application preparation

Experience with SAS SQL programming, R, REDCap

Experience with natural language processing
Experience/knowledge in infectious diseases or microbiology
A demonstrable commitment to promote and enhance diversity.

Salary Range: 50,000-80,000 depending on experience
