Position Title: Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Duties and Responsibilities: A postdoctoral position is available in the Department of Biostatistics,
Columbia University. Columbia University offers outstanding opportunities for training in statistical genetics and genomics. The position involves methodological and applied research in statistical genomics with Dr. Ionita-Laza. Examples of possible projects include integrative statistical methods for predicting functional effects of noncoding variants, association tests for whole-genome sequencing data, and applications to complex diseases. The environment is multidisciplinary, involving collaborations with scientists investigating the genetics of complex diseases, such as autism and schizophrenia. Beyond Columbia, the New York area provides excellent environment with numerous universities and the newly opened New York Genome Center.

Position Qualifications: Applicants should have a strong quantitative background, with a PhD in statistics,
biostatistics, computer science or other quantitative field, and strong programming skills. Background in genetics is highly desirable, but not mandatory.
