Position Title: STATISTICIAN I

Duties and Responsibilities: General Summary:
The Statistician I will be expected to perform statistical analyses at the direction of a designated Statistician II or Faculty. This position will be responsible for writing reports summarizing results of analyses and participating in meetings with investigators. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop and document computer programs that summarize, describe and analyze scientific data concerning topics in the biomedical and social sciences. Most of these programs will be written in the SAS programming language and executed on a PC.
2. Write and run programs to provide descriptive summaries of database files, including frequencies, lists, and plots; examine data to identify potential data inconsistencies.
3. Develop, run and maintain programs to perform routine statistical and graphical analyses of biomedical data, under the direction of an analyst at the level of Statistician II or higher.
4. Document all datasets, programs and program output clearly to facilitate their interpretation and general use by other Data Management staff and research investigators.
5. Participate in meetings with research investigators and staff to ensure accuracy and clarity.
6. Prepare clear written summaries of analyses to facilitate their use by other Data Management staff as well as research investigators and staff.
7. Participate in meetings of the Rush Center for Health Equity.

Position Qualifications: Knowledge: Master’s degree in biostatistics or statistics is required. At least one year of previous experience conducting analysis of biomedical or social science data is required.
Skills: Strong analytical skills. Competent in SAS programming. Competent in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point). Good communication skills and careful attention to accuracy.
Abilities: The ability to function effectively within a team environment is essential. Must be self-directed.
