Company Information: The Department of Biostatistics and Data Science housed inside the School of Public Health has a 40+ year history at University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth), and is committed to excellence in research, education and collaboration services in biostatistics and data science. The department currently has more than 20 full-time faculty members and 100 students (M.P.H., M.S. and Ph.D.). The department offers M.P.H, M.S., and Ph.D. degree programs in Biostatistics, including a new track in Data Science. Faculty members in the department maintain an active methodological research portfolio in Bayesian methods, clinical trials, categorical and longitudinal data analysis, survival analysis, times series, spatial statistics, computational genomics, bioinformatics, and statistical/machine learning, statistical methods for missing data, nonparametric/semiparametric methods and Big Data research. A unique strength and component of our department is the Coordinating Center for Clinical Trials (CCCT) which has a more-than-40-year history of successfully coordinating large multicenter clinical trials and providing comprehensive services for these endeavors. Our strong research profile and collaboration within the Texas Medical Center — the largest medical center in the world — offers access to other institutions, hospitals and research organizations. In addition to other computational resources at the School of Public Health, the department supports its own high-performance computing cluster. Also our school is composed of 6 campuses across the state (Austin, Brownsville, Dallas, El Paso, Houston and San Antonio) that teach and conduct research across campuses.

Position Title: Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor, Biostatistics

Duties and Responsibilities: Applications are currently being accepted, with flexible start dates, to fill one or more tenured/tenure eligible faculty positions within the department at the level of assistant, associate, or full professor. We are seeking applicants with demonstrated methodological research and collaborative experience to enhance our research portfolio of existing areas and expand to the new areas, including (but not limited to) causal inference, clinical trial coordination, functional data analysis, qualitative data analysis, or statistical approaches/algorithms for novel and complex data types such as streaming data, imaging, audio, video, text or other unstructured data. Strong candidates will also have exceptional collaborative and communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to conduct independent research, as exemplified by extramural grant support. In addition candidates will be responsible for teaching and advising graduate students, maintaining collaborative and methodological research, and providing departmental and university services across the six campuses in our institution.

Position Qualifications: A Ph.D. degree in biostatistics, statistics or related disciplines is required. Applicants must demonstrate experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment, or commitment to do so as a faculty member at the School of Public Health. In addition, evidence of both methodological and collaborative peer-reviewed publications in one of the above-mentioned or related areas, extramural research support, solid teaching experience at the graduate level, and excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
