Position Title: Biostatistician/ Research Scientist – 1702565

Duties and Responsibilities: Preferred Qualifications:
Competent in SAS programming language and R, SPSS, or STATA desired. Expertise in the state-of-the-art data manipulation and statistical methodology. Experience in a lab and teaching biostatistics to health professionals.

Brief Description of Duties:
Stony Brook University is hiring a Research Scientist position in the department of Psychiatry. The incumbent will perform variety of duties involving the application of statistical skills to the design of research studies. Incumbent will work as a member of a research and study team and provide statistical expertise. Successful incumbent will have the ability to manage multiple tasks and work with a multidisciplinary team In addition, the Research Scientist will need to effectively communicate technical concepts (both written and verbally) to non-statisticians.
Design research studies by applying statistical skills. Work as a member of a research/study team to provide statistical expertise to the design, execution, and analysis of studies. Participate in the preparation of written and verbal presentations that summarizes data analysis results, interpret the finding and provide conclusion and recommendations.
Participate in the development of new grant applications by helping with the study design by refining study research questions, perform sample size/power estimation, and write relevant statistical sections.
Participate in teaching programs for faculty, medical/graduate students, residents, and fellows.
Develop relevant statistical methodology.
Other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications: Required Qualifications:(As evidenced by an attached resume)

PhD in Biostatistics or closely related field. Three years of experience as a Biostatistician in a clinical research environment to include at least one year experience following attainment of a doctoral degree. Evidence of collaborative and methodological research accomplishment, including proven skills in design, analysis and reporting of clinical research in a clinical research, coordinating center or clinical trials environment.
