Position Title: Research Scientist, Health Policy and Practice

Duties and Responsibilities: • Develop and carry out applied and/or methodological research leading to peer-reviewed publications, reports to sponsoring agencies, and other dissemination strategies. Work will be carried out in partnership with other Arbor Research investigators and our analytical team, as well as external collaborators.
• Provide scientific and operational leadership and oversight for research projects, often including as a principal investigator or project director.
• Lead or participate in proposals for innovative new research studies that meaningfully extend Arbor Research’s portfolio, as well as support individual career development goals.
• Work with experts in our project management office to oversee project implementation, tasks, and timelines.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of strategic initiatives within our program areas (thematic groupings of Arbor’s research projects).
• Provide mentorship and/or guidance to the analytic staff and other team members.
• Present seminars, talks, and lectures externally on behalf of Arbor Research, and internally for staff advancement and education.
• Work creatively to identify additional ways to translate research findings into improving health care practice, policy, and patient outcomes.

Position Qualifications: • PhD in health services research, health economics, health policy, public health, biostatistics, epidemiology, economics, or other social science field
• Two (2) years of relevant postdoctoral research experience at a research-based organization
• Capability to succeed in research, as demonstrated by development of specific content-area expertise, lead or senior authorship on refereed publications or reports to policymakers/sponsors, and/or invited presentations.
• Demonstrated success, or potential for success, with securing funding for new projects consistent with the Arbor Research mission.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to travel, including international, with several nights away from home per year.
