Position Title: Research Associate

Duties and Responsibilities: The research group led by Dr. Zhigang Li in the Department of Biomedical Data Science in Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth invites applications for a research associate in Biostatistics/Data Science. This position will be supported by an NIH R01 grant to advance the understanding of pathogenesis mediated by microbiome in children and help translate research findings to medical practice. The position will also provide wonderful research/training opportunities to develop novel statistical methods to solve cutting edge problems in microbiome research in children’s health. The research associate will work under the mentorship of Dr. Li and collaborate with an established interdisciplinary research team consisting of statisticians, epidemiologists, pediatrician and bioinformatician. S/he will be able to participate in exciting projects such as the New Hampshire Birth Cohort Study and Cystic Fibrosis related medical studies. The successful applicant will contribute to developing state-of-art modeling approaches to analyze complex microbiome sequencing data as complex high dimensional mediator in disease causal pathways in children.

Position Qualifications: A Ph.D. in biostatistics/statistics/statistical learning/deep learning/data sciences or related area is required. Those who are close to graduation are also welcome to apply. A strong quantitative background in computing, with a demonstrated ability to design and implement algorithms in working code. Coursework and practical experience in applying statistical/deep learning approaches to complex and/or high dimensional data. Programming experience in a UNIX/Linux environment using programming languages such as R. The position will be renewed on a yearly basis contingent upon performance and funding availability. With outstanding performance, this position could also transition to a permanent research associate position which could qualify for green card application if needed.

Salary Range: $60,000-$65,000
