Postdoctoral Fellow
National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences

Company Information: NIEHS is part of the National Institutes of Health, within the Department of Health and Human Services. Unlike most of NIH, we are located in North Carolina, in the Research Triangle Park. Our research is not limited to any particular disease but is very rich, broad and varied. We have a highly-regarded biostatistics group and a respected epidemiologic group, and interesting statistical problems arise that need creative solutions.

Position Title: Postdoctoral Fellow

Duties and Responsibilities: The successful candidate will develop methods to address problems in genetic, cancer, reproductive and/or environmental epidemiology. He/she will have the opportunity to work with data from a family-based study and large cohort projects. In methodologic work, we are interested in better use of family genetic data to study epistasis, in developing methods based on pooling of specimens prior to assay, and in approaches to study the role of time-varying exposures in discrete-time survival models, for application to time-to-pregnancy studies. However, research topics are not limited to those, and candidates with different topics of interest are encouraged to apply.

Position Qualifications: Candidates should have, or be very close to obtaining, a Ph.D. in epidemiology (with a strong interest in methods), or in biostatistics, statistics or closely related areas (with a strong interest in epidemiology). Programming skill is required. Excellent communication skills and fluency in both spoken and written English are essential.

Salary Range: $61k – $66K

Benefits: Health insurance coverage.
