Position Title: Postdoctoral Research Associate

Duties and Responsibilities: We are seeking a creative and motivational Postdoctoral Associate to join the lab of Dr. Huiping Zhang (Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Biomedical Genetics) within the Section of Biomedical Genetics, Department of Medicine at Boston University School of Medicine. The candidate will participate in our NIH-funded research project aimed at using genomic approaches to understand the biology of alcohol and drug addiction and related disorders. Current areas of interest include using high-throughput sequencing technologies to discover gene and small RNA expression alterations and alternative splicing variants that are associated with alcohol and drug addiction. Analyses will include characterizing differential gene and miRNA expression as well as splicing, utilizing network reconstruction algorithms to discover potential regulatory mechanisms, and developing sensitive and specific biomarkers for prediction of disease status or treatment outcome.

Position Qualifications: Candidates should have or be close to obtaining a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, biostatistics, genomics, or a closely related field. Experience analyzing next-generation RNA and DNA sequencing data, knowledge of statistical methods, bioinformatics concepts/methods, genomic data tools and databases, and outstanding programming skills in R, perl, and Unix shell scripting are strongly desired.
