Company Information: The Department of Biostatistics, Bioinformatics and Biomathematics is an academic department within Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC). The Department offers a Master of Science and Doctorate in Biostatistics, and provides consulting expertise to the Georgetown community with respect to the design and data analysis of clinical trials, basic science, genomics, proteomics and metabolomics data analysis, and population science research projects. The Department also serves as an essential component of the Georgetown Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC) whose Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Shared Resource (BBSR) is housed in the Department. The LCCC, as part of GUMC and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, seeks to prevent, treat, and cure cancers by linking scientific discovery, expert and compassionate patient care, quality education, and partnership with the community; guided by the principle of cura personalis – “care for the whole person.”

Position Title: MS Biostatistician

Duties and Responsibilities: The Department of Biostatistics, Bioinformatics and Biomathematics – Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC), Georgetown University Medical Center (GUMC) is seeking a Biostatistician (JR00914).

The Biostatistician will provide biostatistical support on the design, conduct, analysis, and interpretation of cancer and other biomedical research projects. He/She will help to conduct methodological research into innovative solutions to problems arisen in the collaboration. These projects involve basic science, clinical medicine, population science and statistical research.

Reporting to the Department Chair and with indirect supervision by various faculty members and Principal Investigators (PI), the Biostatistician has duties that include but are not limited to:

– Actively collaborates on the design, conduct, analysis and interpretation of research projects related to clinical trials and other biomedical studies
– Participates in the department’s statistical consulting activities
– Assists in grant preparation for LCCC members and other GUMC applications
– Participates in the education activities within the Department as needed – which may include TA/Grader for courses, some R or SAS lectures to graduate students
– Prepares analysis and summary for Data & Safety Monitoring Committee (DSMC) meetings

Position Qualifications: Requirements
– Master’s degree in biostatistics, statistics or a closely related field
– 3 years of experience in statistical design and analysis for biomedical research projects
– Experience with biostatistical aspects of medical research projects, and experience in a consulting environment
– Strong programming skills in R, SAS, and statistical analysis skills
– Ability to implement analysis methods in R and SAS and produce analysis reports
– Highly complex specialized training to perform the functions of the job
– Good oral and written communication skills

Preferred qualifications
– Expertise in Biostatistics/Statistics
– Excellent computer and programming skills in SAS, R/S-Plus
